Questions

Straight answers before you call.

The things homeowners ask most about standby generators, and about working with Jamie.

Still have a question?

Jamie answers every call and request within one business day.

How often does a standby generator need maintenance?

At least once a year, and sooner if it ran for long stretches during an outage. A yearly service covers the oil, filters, spark plugs and battery, plus a full run test, so the generator is ready to start the moment the power goes out.

Why didn’t my generator start during the outage?

The most common causes are a weak or worn-out battery, a fault code on the controller, low oil, a fuel supply problem or an issue with the transfer switch. Note any message on the control panel and request a repair; Jamie will find the cause and fix it.

How much does a whole‑house generator cost?

It depends on the size of the generator, the fuel type, the transfer switch and how much electrical work your panel needs. Jamie looks at your home and what you want to keep running, then gives you a quote for the complete installation.

What size generator do I need?

That comes down to what you want powered during an outage: a few essential circuits, or the whole house including central air and a well pump. Jamie reviews your electrical load in person and recommends a size that fits, rather than guessing from square footage.

Can a standby generator run on natural gas or propane?

Yes. Home standby generators run on either natural gas from your utility line or propane from a tank. Jamie can help you work out which makes sense for your home.

Are you a Generac authorized dealer?

Yes. Jamie Services is a Generac Authorized Dealer, and Jamie is a certified Generac technician with more than 15 years of experience on Generac standby generators.

Do you work on generator brands other than Generac?

Yes. Generac is the specialty and Jamie Services is a Generac Authorized Dealer, but Jamie also services Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, Champion and Cummins standby generators.

Are you insured and registered in Pennsylvania?

Yes. Jamie Services LLC is fully insured and registered as a Pennsylvania home improvement contractor, PA HIC #PA169547.

Do you take small handyman jobs too?

Yes. Along with generators, Jamie handles repairs, electrical and plumbing work around the house. Send your list with photos and he will plan it as one visit.

What areas do you serve?

Jamie Services is based in York, PA and serves homes across York, Lancaster, Adams, Dauphin and Cumberland counties, plus generator maintenance and repair in Carroll County, MD, around Westminster, and northern Baltimore County down to Towson. Handyman, electrical and plumbing work is Pennsylvania only.
